Sumati Group founder Lisen, speaks on social impact and youth opportunity in Web3 at Youth Festival 2022, Denpasar

Denpasar, Indonesia

The Youth Festival 2022, hosted by Bali Blockchain Center in Denpasar, brought together thought leaders, tech innovators, and youth from across Bali and beyond to explore the future of technology, community, and meaningful work.

Among the key voices on the panel was Lisen Ydse Christiansen, founder of Sumati Group, who offered unique insights into the intersection of social impact, blockchain innovation, and youth empowerment.

Speaking to a vibrant audience of university students, industry professionals, and the general public, Lisen unpacked the potential of blockchain technology to not only disrupt industries but also transform systems of inequality, transparency, and access. Drawing from her diverse global experience and research-work with Sumati Group, she emphasized the importance of values-driven innovation in the Web3 space.

“We must see blockchain not just as a financial or technological tool,” Lisen shared, “but as a framework for trust, collaboration, and mobilization, especially for young people seeking purpose-driven work.”

The panel explored how Web3 offers a radically different approach to economic participation, one where decentralization allows youth from emerging markets to contribute to global projects, build reputational capital, and launch decentralized initiatives from anywhere in the world.

Lisen also addressed the challenges facing youth in entering the blockchain space, including the digital divide, lack of mentorship, and the need for ethical leadership. She encouraged universities and local organizations to create incubators, training hubs, and values-aligned pathways for students to engage with the Web3 economy.

The session concluded with a Q&A where audience members asked practical questions about job prospects, freelance opportunities, and how to align blockchain innovation with climate action, community development, and education access.

The Youth Festival 2022 marked an important step in building bridges between emerging tech industries and Bali’s vibrant youth community. Lisen’s participation underscored Sumati Group’s long-term vision of aligning emerging technologies with youth mobilization, inclusive work futures, and systemic socioeconomic impact, laying the foundation for a more equitable, values-driven digital era.
